That was what I always heard growing up in northern NY (where they were generally known as "concord grapes"), though I never actually tried to make wine out of them. After a good frost, and they look all shriveled, taste one.I get those every year. I was told they are "winter grapes" and I have been trying to kill the vines for years. They are choking out my arborvitae and the annoying Blue Jay loves them. Arggh! They very sour.
