I discovered these growing on my fence.

After harvest, prune them back and next year will at least double the amount
 
I'm pretty sure that they are frost grapes and get good soon after the first frost.
That was what I always heard growing up in northern NY (where they were generally known as "concord grapes"), though I never actually tried to make wine out of them. They were definitely pretty sour before a frost...that much I can verify. :D
 
I get those every year. I was told they are "winter grapes" and I have been trying to kill the vines for years. They are choking out my arborvitae and the annoying Blue Jay loves them. Arggh! They very sour.
 
Add A LOT of sugar.....that's what the folks at Manachevits do!

After a good frost, and they look all shriveled, taste one.

You may be surprised. Or just trying to get the taste out...

(No, seriously: they will be somewhat sweet)
