He grows his own and has them tested, right Tim?I like it.
Question: Did you mean to enter hops as “whole/leaf” or did you mean to specify pellet hops? That will have an effect on the IBUs.

A good saison is like potato chips; you can’t have just one.The plan was for a third saison.
Either that or apple juice on the trub (simple cider).
Then I got worried tasting my first batch.
But I had another helping today and i am back on plan A![]()
Where I live and imbibe, it is still defiantly known as Cascadian Dark Ale, aka Black IPA.Brewing a Black IPA, or what use to be referred to as a Casadian Dark Ale, plan to do that Monday. My LHBS is out of DME, and out of Cascade hops... grrrrr, Amazon to the rescue. This is a previous version of it, thin and bitter like an IPA, but dark and a little more complex. This is achieved be reserving the dark malts and adding them with about 5 or 10 minutes to go in the mash

Those grains should be absolutely fine.If the grains are still fresh enough (bought back in January, uncrushed and double bagged), then I will make a dry hopped IPA.
I will be sure to check for bugs before proceeding. Make adjustments in the recipe for extra protein as necessaryThose grains should be absolutely fine.
I keep mine much longer
It’s great to see KC getting some love by home brewers. I should have enough to redo mine from last year.I think a Kentucky Common is next using the Yeast in the fermenter for the cream ale.
Best of luck, be patient and take your time. It will all come back to you.I checked my grains, and they are free of extra protein (meaning no bugs!), and verified that I have supplies of hops, yeast and brewing salts. As such, tomorrow I will brew my Best IPA. It has been a while since I have been in the saddle, hope I can enjoy a smooth ride and not fall off the horse.
