New to the Grain & Calculator.
Have setup 2x BIAB recipes & both have ended up with much higher OG than stated in recipes.
Eg.Recipe OG 1.045 Actually got 1.074

Have put same ingredients into other freebee software & got closer to the resulting 1.074
Wanna stick with Brewers Friend as like the layout but am obviously missing something.

Any help much appreciated.

What is your efficiency set at?

It say 35%(brewhouse)
Recipes were BF#1 & #1BIAB Citra

Seems low. Try bumping to around 70-75%. That's how most recipes are written.

it defaults to 35% when selecting extract, you need to change it back to 70 at least

Doh!
Yep that looks better. Sorry didn't think could change that figure.
Getting there.. Thanks!

Efficiency is the ratio of extracted to available sugars. The less efficient the mash, the less sugars you get in your wort, and the lower the gravity. Of course, the converse is also true.

plichy, you're still set on extract brewing as a selection if it gives you 35% default efficiency as well. You can change in the Brew Method drop down to BIAB, Partial Mash, or all grain which means the mash tun or cooler mash as well.
