It takes quite a bit of pumpkin to get something out of it, and I have only used it with the spices. I remember getting more out of the sweet potatoes.
Did you do the whole thing baking pie pumpkins and adding some brown sugar? I believe I used considerably more pumpkin and make a puree out of it for the strike water.

I have done that before and it was fine, but I found it got tiresome after a short while. I'm good for about 6 pints and then I want to move on. Now I only use the seeds, or if I'm feeling ambitious I'll use the fresh pumpkin.

I'm just glad it seems drinkable.
