I might have a hard time with the wine when it is 100 degrees in the desert. I might enjoy a little when it cools off here around Thanksgiving

Make sure you keep in regular contact with you close friends and make sure they know how you feel about them.

Last year I lost a newer friend, knew him for about 4 years, it was sudden and unexpected. Doug was way, way to young at 53.

Last week I lost an old friend, we go back 43 years. It was sudden, and unexpected. Greg was way to young as well at 63, he was just a couple of months older than me.

I did not want to hit a like button on a topic like this, but I definitely feel the hurt. When you lose friends or a wife, your perspective about everything definitely changes.
We only have control over a certain number of things. We can only wake up in the morning, have a little humility, enjoy the moments we are given to the best of our ability, smile when we can, and know our time is finite. It gets maybe somewhat better when that happens, but it still hurts sometimes.

It was good to see other old friends today at the celebration. There were some of Greg's Ex's there today as well, and I had a chance to catch up with the ones I liked

There were 4 of us that have stayed close all these years, we had planned to get together later this month for a Leafs vs Habs game. With one of us gone now, it is all the more important for us to not only get together, but to make plans to do it more often than the 3-4 times a year that we have been in recent years.
I am fortunate to have a good group of friends that I see almost every week, sometimes even more than that, the oldest relationship I have in this group is about 20 years, and we are close. These other longer term friends though are extra special to me, time does that.
