BF reorients portrait images sideways, and orients landscape images in such a way that if the button on my iPhone 7 is to the right, it is upright but if the button is on the left, upside-down. Sigh.

This is not the only forum software that does this, fwiw.

Look at the image's metadata for orientation. Most software uses that to know what's up.
