All - I’m brewing a recipe “Palmer” style, where I’m going to prep and boil 1/2 of my grain bill at the beginning of the boil, and then add the other half of the extract at flameout. I’ll then dilute the wort in my fermenter with some cold water until I reach desired gravity and/or batch volume. My question is - where do I define my fermenter top-up water, to accurately determine what my initial gravity should be, as well as get a prediction of ibu’s? For other brewing software, I’m used to entering a fermenter top-up value, but I’m not seeing that anywhere with Brewers Friend. What am I missing?

Right, I can't answer your question, but I wanted to say that you need to be careful with your top up water.
Make sure it's clean. Preciously boiled water or bottled water.
I sort of do what you do, but with biab
I measure gravity, then calculate how much water to add to get to desired gravity (but in my head or on paper)

Zambi - thanks for the cautions; I’ve been brewing for a number of years, so well aware of and agree with your comments. I’m used to brewing with Beersmith 3 or Brewfather, and I’m used to adding the fermenter top-up amount in the equipment profile. Once that is entered, as long as I got the batch volume entered, all the rest of the data just pops out, like estimated volumes(before and after), estimated gravities, estimated ibus, etc. I can’t believe that this feature isn’t part of Brewers Friend. Seems to be a shortcoming if I have to manually calculate that, like the old days

Calling @Yooper and @Pricelessbrewing

I don't use a lot of software calculations due to my set up.
I just asked the 2 fundi's who should now.
