Weird question, but I get to go to the "big city" tomorrow (cough Saskatoon cough) and before catching our evening flight we are going to shop/run errands and I wanted to hit up the brewing supply store. Would it be terrible to have malted grains sitting the in car for a week? Would it significantly affect their flavor?

I'm sure they'll be fine if they are wrapped up air tight.
Humidity is the bigger concern.
Food for thought...
So you think the warehouse those grains are stored in is air-conditioned?
How about the rail cars or truck trailers that move them across the country?
Silos?
Cheers,
Brian

I'm sure you'll be fine.
My grains are kept at pretty high temps.
Humidity is much bigger iissue

Saskatoon, big city, good one!

Will the grains be whole, or milled?
Good question!
I assumed whole.
(Some of mine where inside a 20 foot container for close on 2 years before using without a problem. At summer shade temps of 45 oC)

My only concern would be if they are milled, if so the concern would be the humidity. Not to mention that milled grains should be used fairly promptly.

I get mine milled and keep them for about a week before I use them, but I keep them in the refrigerator sealed up. I would be worried about humidity, especially the way it is down here.
