So I cold crashed a beer and didn't remove the blowoff tube...such a wanker.

It appears that it may have sucked about 1 quart of sanitizer into my 5 gallons of beer.

Questions:

  1. Is it safe to drink?
  2. Will it taste like crap?

Safe to drink as far as I know, but may not taste so good, let us know.
To my knowledge it is safe to drink starsan solution straight up, not that you should, or would.
Disclaimer: I think I read this in a post by @Nosybear

I did this with my first Saison. The beer was a dumper. The star san will foam up like hair shampoo when you try to pour. I tried to save mine thinking the star san was just on the top. It was completely dissolved in the beer.

Yeah, i was hoping that the starsan was on the top. The abv on this one is around 10.3%, so it's pretty high. Dont' know if alcohol or starsan is heavier.

I guess time will tell if this one is going to be a dud.

Worst part about it is that I bottle, so that is a lot of labor to have to dump it later.

I'm with Frankenbrewer, it's the foaming that caused me the most grief me when I did something similar. Mine went in when I was cooling down before adding the yeast. I thought what the hell, may as well see what happens. As soon as fermentation kicked off properly the foaming just caused most of the beer to escape out the blow off. I came back after a weekend away to find a basically empty fermenter and a sticky trail from the ferm fridge down to the drain that is luckily just next to it.

It happened to me a couple years ago when cold crashing, I honestly don't remember if a dumped, or drank...
