...home to "The Bear" aka Cal Coast Beer Company. First post on BF, just reunited with this site and the tools offered, as I am back into brewing beer. Thankfully I never forgot the enjoyment I had on my past brew days and now want to work at improving the beers I brew.
I told myself when I retired, I would dust off the original equipment, buy supplies and spend the day over the brew kettle. As of June 5, I finished my first batch called the Inspired Paso Ale (IPA for short) after 7 years away.It's bottle conditioning, but it was a great day. Already have a few other recipes in the development stage.
Spent 35 years in transportation, from busses to planes to trains. Yup, I hit them all and at 56 I was probably on the younger side to retire, but had to stick it to the ex-wife and her alimony, so I retired. Paso is a great area, one of those I never really visited as my travels were usually up and down the Interstate 5 not on Highway 101. Grew up in San Diego, spent 13 years in Los Angeles and couldn't wait to get the hell out of the Bay Area after 21 years. Hello Paso, the best part of CA I believe.
Looking forward, I want to improve my beer game, thankfully I have a few brewers at Cal Coast, willing to provide information and feedback, which is great. But my girlfriend and I are looking at moving out of the country for retirement. No idea where we will end up, I think Central America is currently leading the way as we have spent the the last 2 years vacationing in Belize.
