would love some info on ,can i swap some or all the base malt (grain) for DME , in a BIAB recipe and add the DME at say 10min remaining on boil
i then would do a or mash with the remaining grains and boil for hop addition
i am having trouble holding a good rolling boil with the system i have just now , so hopping to cut down on water to boil

You can definitely do that. Brewer's Friend has a calculator for that. Were you thinking of doing two separate boils, one for the DME and one for the grain mash? If that's the case you would only need to boil the non-hopped wort just long enough to sanitize it.
You could also mash thicker and dilute with water at the end of the boil.

I was just going to add the DME at the end of the 30min boil

Leave enough time for the dme to dissolve fully, a couple minutes.

Also: dme is extremely hydroscopic. Even a few seconds exposure to the boil steam will clump it up, and it will harden like a brick in under a minute. Just expect it and use care.

One easy thing to remember when purchasing DME is that .6 pound of DME is equal to one pound of base malt in general, while .75 pound of LME is about equal in gravity points. Our software helps with that of course, but sometimes you may be a homebrew store or buying and need to estimate how much you may need.
