In fact the IPA style was born from the British making their beer with a higher alcohol co tent, and with more hops to have it keep longer on the expeditions to, wait for it... India!

I wouldn't recommend leaving them too long, as wet hopping seems to also impart some vegetal grassy flavors if left more than 3-5 days or so.
