Bottling beer today and decided to fill a 5l minikeg for fun

Filled with same beer as bottles, 4oz sugar in 5gals

Left some head space, but not much

Did I create a Weapon of Messy Destruction?

Will condition in a plastic bag to be safe

Depends on how much headspace was left. It doesn't sound like you over primed though. I'd check it in a couple weeks.

Should be fine. 4 Oz corn sugar is about right. Head space doesn't make a whole lot of difference because the CO2 responds to pressure, not volume: A fully-carbonated, nearly empty bottle will be about the same pressure as a fully-carbonated, completely full bottle. You haven't created a bomb but, if the bottle is too full, it might not carbonate well.

I was referring to the mini keg.

Uh oh. I just realized I did not use a vented bung. What can I do?

Is this the bung on the top, or the dispenser at the bottom?

Has bottom spout. I did not use a venting bung on top.

I think I see what you mean. Your bung is a solid plug, not this kind where the middle can be pushed in allowing air in (or preferably CO2 with a small CO2 canister):

I didn't even know they had the solid bung option.

When you are ready to drink, open the spout and dispense what you can. Do not open the bung or beer will go everywhere. Then, after the mini keg's internal pressure is relieved you can refit the bung if you want to the kind that accept a refill from a mini CO2 cartridge. In any case, it may go flat in a couple days. Your best bet is to drink it with friends, or try and repackage into growlers.

The ultimate solution would be to convert to a mini keg dispensing system:

The Force is strong with you, Jedi Master LB. I have been looking for just the thing!

Heading to the NJ Shore next week, it will not last long enough to go flat. But yeah, that is the bung I am using. I did not realize it could be pushed in. I guess it's a one shot deal?
