It can be traced to heady topper by alchemist brewery in Burlington VT. It's called Vermont style IPA or new England style. They are really hot east cost and I've heard they are starting to brew them west coast I'll look for the article and put it up

New Glarus is just down the road a few miles from here. You're right, Spotted Cow is slightly cloudy and it's a really good "lawn mower" beer. I just made a clone called Speckled Heifer and it turned out damn fine. Good hot day guzzler.
