2025 Happy hour zoom

Where I worked did not allow time to carry into the next year, and ‘extra’ time could be earned for weekend work. One year (ling ago) I had a major project and could not take time, so I finished the project in October and took off from the day before Thanksgiving until Jan 5. (I thought about using up my 3 weeks all in January too…)

It was horrible. Ran out of things to do, and was wishing I could go back to work. Ugh.

It's a little early but that's ok
Festivus is on the 20th this year I believe
Gotta hold it in until then

I'm not going to have too many bad things to say on the 20th. I'm staying at the beach for my family's Christmas:) If it is too cold, I can still look at the water and go to the bar.

I get 6 weeks vacation, almost 30 years of service. Not sure I deserve it, but I sure am grateful for it at this stage of life. Still have 2 more days I need to book between now and Christmas. I want to be at work Christmas Eve though, want to do something nice for my team
I feel the same.

Yeah that would be lame if the boss took Christmas off and the workers didn't.
Definitely don't invite them to Festivus I'm sure they would air some grievance

I guess that is why I like Thanksgiving. It is better to be thankful for what you have than bitch about what you don't. Trust me, it hurts every damn day not having a certain someone in the house, but bitching about it ain't bringing her back.

Well bitching is not the true meaning of Festivus
What we do is get together with the fellows that we worked with over the years in my basement and drink my beer and eat snacks. Some light hearted grievances are exchanged in jest but has never devolved into bitchery

That is when I dig out the fishing pole and go to the beach:)
Well, that was in NJ, I’d also need an ice pick to get down to the water.
you need some hobbies
Funny you write that, as it was by far the biggest Aha! moment before retirement: I better have things to do when I stop working or I’ll be awfully bored. I already had several hobbies, but I started getting passionate about certain ones and that is now what I do.

I enjoy the feats of strength. I have this Browning compound bow from around 1995, with a 70 pound draw. It only has a 25% let off; modern ones have 70+% let off. So far, only one of my friends has been able to draw it and he actually scored a hit from 10 yards as a rookie.

Obviously, we do this before the airing of grievances
