    Omega's Gene-Edited Super-Fruity New Yeasts - Blog Article

Sure but not all human induced processes are the same, right? In any case, I don't think any one is arguing here that what Omega is doing, with their GMO yeasts, is dangerous or ethically wrong. I think everyone is agreeing on that (at least who have posted).

    Omega's Gene-Edited Super-Fruity New Yeasts - Blog Article

In the article, Laura makes the distinction between introducing genes from other species to an organism and merely turning off or removing a gene already in an organism. She surely doesn't say either is an issue, but does draw a distinction between them.

New Blog Post - Getting Back to In-Person Competitions Post-Pandemic

I understand. Just want to keep it in perspective - it's just beer, not really important. I wouldn't call it an apology, but I get your point.

Check out the new blog post on the beer that combines high drinkability, fetching aromatics and a sense of delicateness with high abv and a mouthful of flavor - the Belgian Golden Strong. The article goes through the style's history (spoiler alert: it involves fascist brewers), the style's...

Omega Yeast OYL400 Bananza Ale Yeast

I think it would make a specialty version of hefe, in that it shouldn't be throwing off the spice, pepper or cloves that you normally associate with that style. All banana, none of the spice. But that's not from experience, I haven't brewed with it yet. Let us know who it goes.

    Omega's Gene-Edited Super-Fruity New Yeasts - Blog Article

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! It was fun to talk with Laura, Keith and Bianca and I learned a lot. I never brew German wheat beers because of the clove (not my favorite), but I'm thinking of doing a stout with Bananza - a banana stout, leaning on the chocolate more than the roast...

    Omega's Gene-Edited Super-Fruity New Yeasts - Blog Article

I agree that the yeasts are obviously GMO, but I think they are not what we (as consumers) typically think of as GMO in the food chain sense. In the case of scientists building a better tomato, for example, they've added content, not edited what was already in the tomato. I'm sure Laura would...

Hi AG Brewer, take a look at the blog article, a couple of Omega staff who are homebrewers gave their experiences. One, Keith, said that underpitching Bananza had a bigger impact on ramping up the banana than temps.
