    A crazy pepper beer idea!

Assuming this is up by Mt Hood? What is the restaurant I might stop by and try it :)

Water Levels are low. First batch with my own recipe. A few questions for some more experienced brewers

You can do it either way. You can water down the wort if it is too concentrated (Brewers Friend has a calculator for that) or you can do a full volume mash as you say with 2.5 gallons if you expect to lose 1 gallon to grain absorption and 1/2 gallon to boil off leaving you with 1 gallon at the...

Question: Pressure Fermenting - Can you bottle this beer? How do you prime it?

I do this all the time. Warm beer under 15 PSI spunding. I just bottle with the normal 3 grams of sugar per 12oz bottle. I do try to release all the pressure a week before setting the spunding to zero. Warm pressure is not the same as cold pressure. I found 15 PSI at room temp doesn't carb...

Graduated to BIAB, struggling with efficiency

Double-mill your grain. Especially if you are using the mill at the homebrew store. Are you using an electric system? Try an overnight mash - it all but guarantees you will extract all the sugar that is possible. I've started overnight mashing for every beer I make now. Don't need to...

    Scaleing a resipe

I do this all the time. I write my recipes as 5gal but scale them to 3 gal. Just watch the AA's on the hops. I usually have to adjust the hops manually.

    Lifting device

I was in the same boat. I went and bought some cheap PVC pipe that his just short of ceiling height ... and then I hook the pully onto the top of the pipe and even though the pipe isn't anchored it works well enough. I call it my one arm bandit.

    Recipe Versions

No. There is an option that says copy. I also see a box that says snapshop. Is snapshot read only? Looks like if I select copy I can save it with a different name. ok I just tested and that worked. Thanks!

    Recipe Versions

Can't find anywhere better to post this .... I build 5.5 gallon recipes but I like to scale them to 3.5 gallons. I need both versions as I present the 5.5 g version on my youtube. When I try to save two different copies it overwrites the one so I can't get two versions to save even with...

    First all-grain batch soon...

A lot of people refer to the off flavor from stressed yeast as "homebrew" taste ...like this beer tastes like a homebrew. Could be diacetyl also sometimes a green underripe apple / cider taste. Usually from yeast that fermented to hot or not letting it fully finish and giving it time reabsorb...

    First all-grain batch soon...

yes I do no chill. But just overnight and then pitch yeast in the morning. If you can get a way to control the fermentation temp that homebrew taste will probably go away. I use a chest freezer with an inkbird controller but there are other ways to do it.

    Lallemand Wit Yeast

I wish. I have a witbier that will be done in 2 weeks, but MoreBeer failed to mail me that yeast in my order so I had to use bread yeast. Wish me luck lol. They did make up for it with a gift card exceeding the cost of the yeast. But good idea for me to double check I have everything before...

    overnight mash

What did I miss we are talking overnight mash right? Who cares if air gets sucked in? You haven't boiled yet. The boil will kill anything that could be a problem. Anyway I am going to try an overnight mash next brew, and leave the kettle on at mash temp overnight and see what happens. If you...

Favorite beer style of all time?

Stout for me too - something I can chew lol. Although I've really started to love Munich malt too. But my heart is with Stouts.

Create recipe by % of grain!

ya I guess my thought based on other brew software is you put in 1lb for each grain you are going to use, then you tell it the desired OG, and then you can adjust the percentages and it will auto calculate/adjust the 1lb entries to meet your OG and ratios. Like if you enter 1lb 2row and 1 lb...

Create recipe by % of grain!

This would be very nice to be able to enter volume of batch, and then be able to enter grain by percentage. I know another recipe app that works that way. **EDIT** I see now the goal button to enter the OG goal that will then adjust your percentages.

What did you get delivered today

imo you use both. So Whirfloc helps force the proteins to flocculate when the wort is cooling and then you leave the last inch of muck in the pot. It takes a long time for it to clear your beer ... well over a month in the keg after fermentation. The folks over at Brulosophy did an experiment...

    overnight mash

I thought about overnight mash but then the next day will take longer to get to a boil. 120v system anyway. I can takes hours to get to a boil from room temp water. So I haven't really tried it.
