I have tried to enter grain / Fermentables for a new recipe several times. I am trying to set the goal to 5% abv. But even with no goal it's not saving the fermentable and gives an error that it can't save and wipes everything out and puts Honey Malt as the only malt which I Didn't even enter. I am unable to build a recipe.

Edit: forgot to add when I enter in a grain and a % it doesn't update the amount. So it's not calculating the amount of grain for the % I put in. It's def a problem with the goal option on the recipe builder. I can manually enter amounts and it takes it.

We've got the 'goal' issue on a support ticket. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Just FYI it's still not working.... also tried on the app and it doesn't work on the app. Any ETA on a fix?

Any word on this? I am still not able to build a recipe by setting a goal OG and then building by %, This is one of the features we rely on and need an ETA on a fix.

Thank you.

It's in the list to fix- I'll see if I can get an estimate on the timeline for the fix.

@Off Main Brewing Been trying to think of a good way to resolve this, do you have a specific workflow in mind that would work?

The issue we're having is in order to calculate the amount based on a user input, we need to have a fixed value for something, either the total grain, the base malt amount with a fixed %, or the target OG (and assume efficiency doesn't change). Without one of those as a fixed value, the % input can't be normalized to calculate the other values.

The way the goal feature works right now is to set the target OG (or abv, which is essentially the same calculation), which then we can calculate the total amount of grain needed, and scale everything from there. But then what happens if the user doesn't add up to 100%? Do we adjust the base malt to account for any differences to bring it back to 100%, or throw an error back to you the user to resolve this manually?

Let me talk to my wife, she is a math wiz, maybe she can come up with an alogrithm to make it work. I will show her the base template for a recipe.
