    Fruit in Ingredients List

Hello, I'm starting to experiment with adding fruit to some of my beers and I realized that the ingredients list doesn't allow the selection of fruit. I apologize if this has already been requested, but it would be great to be able to determine the effect the added fruit will have on the...

Biggest bonehead move on a brew day?

I actually co-host a talk show format podcast. I might be up for doing a homebrew podcast if someone wanted to host or co-host.

Biggest bonehead move on a brew day?

I recently forgot to wash my yeast after a batch. I am STILL kicking myself over that one because that means I have to spend an additional $8 on my next batch that I would not have had to otherwise. DOH! I also recently had a serious brain fart and forgot about the wet t-shirt trick (and no...

    Storing crushed grains

I do 2.5 gallon BIAB brews and I use a corona mill. My grain bills usually only call for upwards of 4.5-7 pounds depending on the brew. To avoid getting grain everywhere, I wrap the outside of the circular bit with foil with a little "slide" bent into the bottom. The causes most of the grain to...

    Mini Kegs

My LHBS recommends drinking the underfilled one first. How should I vent it? The kegs I have include the "gravity spigot" so I suppose I could invert the keg and let some pressure out with that without risking losing any beer to the process. I've heard a lot of negative reviews of mini kegs...

    Mini Kegs

Hello, I just got into kegging this weekend when I purchased four (4) mini kegs (1.3ish gallons each). Needless to say, I am very excited about starting this process but one part that had me shaking my head is filling it. I know to only fill the keg to within an inch of the top, but with all of...

    Storing crushed grains

Personally, I don't store crushed grains but then again I have a mill. If you don't have a mill then the best way to store crushed grains is in the fridge in as airtight a container as you can manage. Vacuum seal bags would be even better. They can be kept for upwards of 6 months according to...

    (DONE) priming with gyle

Re: priming with gyle How have you been calculating your gyle amounts? Do you have a different calculator that you use? I have yet to use gyle myself, but it is definitely something I want to do down the road.

    Bourbon Barrels

Hello again! I don't have any experience with barrel aging or oak chips, but I have heard that you can get pretty good flavor from using the oak chips. You definitely want to soak them in vodka or some other strong alcohol before pitching them in. I also do not rack to a secondary and I was...

    Squeezing hop/grain bags

Not sure if you answered all of the questions in your research but I thought I'd throw in my two cents. 1) Everything I've read has said that the "don't squeeze the grain bag" thing is a myth, as you have found. I'm not sure about what squeezing the hop bag would do except for maybe get more...

    (DONE) priming with gyle

Re: priming with gyle There seems to be lots of various methods of calculating gyle out there. I for one, have yet to krausen my brews but it is something I have thought about and haven't done because I can't wrap my head around the calculations. Here are some sites I have found that offer...

    (Kinda) New

Hello all! My name is Bruce and I've been brewing for about 6 months now and I recently made the jump from extract to AG brewing (my first AG batch is fermenting as I type this). Thanks to this site, I feel like my brews are getting better and better. Having read numerous books, internet...

(DONE) Ability to clear the shopping list

Re: Ability to clear the shopping list As a simple solution in the meantime, you could just click "Convert Shopping List to Inventory." This moves EVERYTHING in your shopping list to the inventory. Since you don't manage your inventory, you probably won't mind having that data there. :D

    (DONE) Recipe Type Display

Hello, On the My Recipes page, it would be great to be able to be able to sort or at least see the type of recipe (Extract, AG, BIAB, etc). For now, I have differentiated my AG recipes with an [AG] tag in the name so that I can filter using that tag. Great site guys!

    (DONE) Default Batch

Hello, For those of us who make larger or smaller batches, it would be useful to be able to set a default batch size. It makes for one less field to have to edit before starting with the design of the recipe. Great site guys!

    Default Yeast

Hello, There is an option for "Default Yeast" in the Recipe Edit function, but there is no where else on the site that ties into it. Having a selectable "Default Yeast" that one could set in their profile would be useful, especially for brewers who culture their own yeast. Great site guys!
