    Mangrove Cider Yeast M02

Thanks for the input. I don't really like the mangrove yeast as of now, but might need to wait a little longer. Might be in part my fault, I should have aireated better, and I fermented slightly warm 72 I think. I guess I'll need to pay up and try all these side by side.

    Reconfiguration of brewery

Ah, I had not thought of that. I have always used the same shop, thus the same grinder, so remains consistent :) . Interesting thought for the future though. Thanks!

    Reconfiguration of brewery

Just for my own curiousity, why? I buy in bulk form my LHBS store. They essentially keep a record of how much I use, so I don't actually keep the whole 50lb sack at my house. I just buy 50lb at once for the bulk price. I thought about a mill, but realized I had to go there all the time for...

    Dry hop with Nugget?

https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/492583/jasons-pale-ale For what its worth. That is the updated version as best as I can. The mash went really well, but by the time I got to the boil I was 5 in.... so the boil / hop times got a little bit flexed.

    Dry hop with Nugget?

Well.... dumped the both of em in. Just smelling cascade next to nugget, I actually prefered the nugget smell, so i'm hopeful some of that makes its way to the end. I'll post back with my review of the combo.

    Dry hop with Nugget?

I have 1oz nugget and 1oz cascade on hand, so both are going in I guess. I found http://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=61012&page=3 and they seem to like it. I have only used it to bitter, so was skeptical, but what the heck, its going in.

    Dry hop with Nugget?

Has anyone used Nugget as a dryhop? I know many people have listed hops that you should not dryhop with (Saaz and Fuggle for example) but have never found a good list of ones you should use for dryhop. Normally I stick to cascade/centennial/citra for dryhopping, but I have nugget handy, so...

    Mangrove Cider Yeast M02

I'm curious, what did you not like about it? I guess my ask is what should I expect as a result with this yeast? With beer and wine, after primary i can get a general idea of what it will taste like (and if I will like it), so not sure if the same is true with cider. I am going to take other's...

    Mangrove Cider Yeast M02

Has anyone used the mangrove cider yeast before? I started my first cider, and i'm not happy with it. It is VERY yeasty tasting. Will it will age out, or if this is the common result for this yeast? I used 100% honey crisp apple juice, some brown sugar, and yeast energizer/nutrient. It was...

    Water test results.......

Updated my above response with the graph from John Palmer. Look at http://howtobrew.com/book/section-3/understanding-the-mash-ph/using-salts-for-brewing-water-adjustment for just how much gypson to add to bump it 85 ppm per gallon and you should be good, plus or minus some.

    Water test results.......

I will let others dive in deep, but I started with graphing it out on the chart found http://howtobrew.com/book/section-3/understanding-the-mash-ph/residual-alkalinity-and-mash-ph If John Palmer is correct (which I have used this with success), your ideal styles are darker (red lines). If you...

Does your LHBS get the malt for you?

I live near Portland, OR. There are a handful of shops around us, some better than others, but all let you do your own grain if you want. My main store (bader) has lots of staff handy to help (which I utilize often), but let you be alone unless you ask for it. All grain is on the wall where...

    Better Wine Support

I guess my goal isn't the recipe calculation as much as it is the recipe tracking for wine. I keep detailed notes on the wines I make, but do it is different places (namely a notebook). Adding wine yeasts to the database would be awesome. It would help keep all fermenting related...

    API and BeerXML

I'm also a developer. Any update on an API docs? I would like to build a few tools to better support wine. Thanks! Jason

    Better Wine Support

For beer, I really like your calculator but already had BeerSmith so just continue to use it. I want to be a paid customer for you, but can't because of the poor support for wine :) . (Check out VinoTrac for example). + Add wine yeasts / cider yeasts (there is another feature req out there for...
