    Kombucha

I don't usually make a lot of kombucha, just a few bottles at a time since I rarely make enough to keg. But it's hot. I usually drink only a couple of different non-alcoholic beverages- water (carbonated usually from a keg) and coffee (two cups per day). I'm an anti-sugar freak so don't...

    Bread Thread!

I've been doing more and more of my sourdough in loaf pans (cast iron). It makes it easier to have 'normal' sized bread for Bob's toast in the morning. He used to hack all the sides of the boules off because he liked the heel so he made like 6 heels of bread. So far, he's liking the...

Checkbox to hide 0 amount ingredients in inventory

You mean something different than the "hide ingredients with 0 amounts"? What would you like to see differently? We may be able to do something more helpful if we know what it would be.

    Custom App Integration Broken

We got it fixed right away, once we heard about it. Sorry I didn't respond earlier- I was visiting my family and didn't keep up with the forum.

    Dunk Sparge...

What? Full volume pulling 65%? I get far more than that, and about 1% less than doing it on my three vessel HERMS which recirculated. I don't recirculate most times, as I found that I don't like the Brewzilla, and use it more as an HLT and boil kettle. I went back to BIAB in my old igloo...

    Steeping grain Poll

But you've got to boil or at least pasteurize the 'tea', and I'm way to lazy to take another step that wouldn't make much difference in the end. Mash capping? Sure, I'll do that with some grains that may impart harshness, like black patent. But no way would I boil it separately and then add...

    Dunk Sparge...

How does a thick mash increase efficiency? I've been brewing for about 25 years and never heard that before. That would be very interesting, since I've started doing full volume mashes in the last few years. I used to brew 11 gallons or more on brewdays, so always sparged but now go with 5...

Accurate Description Controversy: Hefeweizen Phenols are NOT Clove

I read a review of a beer (can't remember now which beer it was) as having a flavor of "mossy river rocks". I haven't tasted all that many mossy river rocks, to be fair. But while a pile of pretentious BS. I DO tend to get a clove-like phenol from some beers. Is it clove exactly? No, one...

    Beer Gun for Bottling

I did that for years- got a beergun and used the Blichmann a couple of times. Guess what? I went back to the broken racking cane and burping- just because the beergun is a pain for only a few beers. I actually won some competitions about 15 years ago with the old broken racking cane bottle...

    2026 Monthly Zoom Happy Hour

I went to Italy for a month with an under seat carry on and a small backpack as a personal item. I went to Hawaii for 5 days, then on an aircraft carrier for 6 days with the same luggage. (It was hot in Hawaii and freezing on the carrier). If I can do that, anybody can.

Poll: how many people brew electric

I used a big 3 vessel HERMS all electric for years, then now use an AIO. Well, sort of.....I use the AIO for HLT and boil kettle, but dug out my old mashtun because it's bigger and I can do no sparge in it. It wouldn't let me pick two choices......so I didn't answer but it works for me!
