Just thought i'd let you know how Thor's Thunder came out. This is the closest I have come to the pint Scott poured me in his garage. Mashed at 156f for 90 min. then a 2hr boil. Not much sweetness to balance all the dark malt and hops but a nice "creamy", for lack of a better word mouthfeel. And...
Amazing to hear this from you @Hawkbox . The reason for supply and demand being as such is because the large lumber mills were shut down because of covid . The small mills that can distance and isolate workers are struggling to keep production going so as to keep people working. Don't worry...
Don't fear the beer. With good sanitation you will have no probs. +1 on the temp rise. It will help avoid the stall. That passion fruit sounds delicious!
Actually only 4th time brewing it. First recipe was designed by a comercial brewer to copy the original recipe by Scott (brewed twice). I made contact with him and got his original recipe and now have brewed his recipe once with old RIMS and had to fit it in the 65l digiboil this time. Could...
Scott's Thor's Thunder is in the fermenter!
Finally got things together with newer system. This is the biggest nastiest wonderful RIS i have ever had the chance to brew. It has been compared to motor oil:eek: by light weights! It was brewed in Spokane WA back when and I got the original recipe...
STOP STOP STOP!
The original recipe you started with will come out great if your process of brewing and fermenting is good. Don't over think a simple summer siper! If you used a Saison yeast expect a tart or fruity result and with cascade and zest it should all blend together. If you want a...
Ya gotta keep the sign up Ben, maybe hang it or sumthin but it's gotta stay! Maybe you need to start making her some wine or seltzer to barter with?
I wish you luck on your quest. Science is presently finding that hops are not even close to being properly calculated. The idea of helping them out is a very good idea if that is your thing. Cheers!
Do you preheat the tun? If mash drops right away and not so much later then this could definitely help. Overheating water and waiting for some cool down would work just the same.
