Well... Thank you for all the input. I checked it and it was pretty close to final gravity. I put a packet of dry yeast in it anyway and waited a week or so. Bottled it and, believe it or not, it is drinkable. It is not the best beer ever, but it is not the worst either.
Hello,
Brewed a Kolsch using Omega Kolsch II OYL-044. I put it into the fermentor bucket and wrapped bucket with inexpensive heat wrap and set the temperature for 67F. Approximately 36 hours later I checked on it only to find that the temperature probe had fallen off the bucket and the heater...
Hello,
I just tasted my hefe and it tastes like wine. I am a little early tasting it (brewed 1/30) as it my first "original" recipe and I wanted to see how it turned out. Nothing special just 57% red wheat, 25% pilsner, 8% caracrystal wheat malt and1% acidulated malt. Long mash as i tried to...
So here is an early idea based on JA's suggestion. I do plan on mashing the grain with the sap. Still have to listen to the podcasts.

Hello,
My friends and I tap a few maple trees every year and make maple syrup. I am thinking seriously about taking 7 gallons (or so) of sap and brewing a beer with it. I have no idea what minerals are in maple sap and no idea if there is enough flavor to even notice it in a beer. My question...
Ok. I have taken several hydrometer readings over the last week or so and the number is truly stuck at 1.020, so maybe it is simply done.
I did calibrate the hydrometer in plain water and the thermometer in boiling water.
I received a refractometer for xmas and used it last week on two beers...
It was an all grain with mash temp of 150-152 for one hour. Seemed to go pretty smooth. I aerated it by allowing the wort to fall some distance into the fermenter. There was an inch or so of air bubbles on the top of the wort in the fermenter.
I swirled it around today and did taste it. Seems...
I brewed a lager on 01-17 with an original gravity of 1060, the recipe builder figured a finished gravity of 1.010. My lager has been stuck at 1.020 since 01-26. I put in a warmer area to do a diacytal rest and figured 1.020 was as good a time as any. Has not moved. When I brewed it I pitched 2...
Does anyone have any tips for downloading the calculator for a Mac computer. I can't open it. :(
My wife got me a refractometer for xmas, but I have not used it yet.
