Having fun with a recipe

Almost 20 percent of crystal-type malt is too much for me, but it'll make a beer. It's definitely an Amber Ale though, or maybe a Red IPA with that much color and caramel in the malt.

Love the name! Kinda reminds me of Inspiration Point late at night in the back seat :) Wow that was a blast from the past.

I'm with JA on the crystal. Admittedly, there are a few IPAs that I really like that use medium/dark crystal malts, but never had good experiences with them in my IPAs. Haven't tried Vic Secret but love Cluster as a supporting actor for flavor/aroma. I'd sub in German Vienna for the C-80 to give it some sweet maltiness while reducing the color, but that's just me. Outside of that I like the recipe a lot.

On the subject of IPAs, what kind of results are you seeing since the utilization adjustment for altitude?

Wang dang what a sweet Moontang, ah rang ah dang dang alright:D

Well, it was Halloween and I don’t know what possessed me:rolleyes:. Been having such success with the recipe builder lately and got carried away:). I will pull the plug on that recipe soon.

I want to use some Special Roast in an IPA and here’s a look at what I’m thinking. Please comment.

Yes Bob, that adjustment is getting perceived bitterness where it should be. Cheers all!

Great! I guess with the hop strainer I'll be making some minor adjustments too.
