An update on our first hop planting. All are doing well, Centennial the best, Styrian second, Cascade third, One Willemette didn't have good drainage and croaked. So what do we look for in harvesting?

After two freezes, many hail storms, drowning rains then weeks of blazing heat. Grass hoppers, an aphid invasion, and even some downy mildew. My crop this year isn't to shabby.

Ya know, I'm not the biggest fresh hop beer fan. It's just missing all the depth and flavor that dried hops offer. That said, I do have a pale ale on tap that I may run down to a gallon or two and toss some freshies in.
Every year I wait for the Celebration release. It was the first IPA I ever had. Some years are better than others. We all wink and nod about it each year. The release party ain't too bad either ;)

I think I'm blessed because the beer trucks come straight from the brewery to the store.
