I am trying to match a water profile for an IPA and am wondering if the amount of calculated salt to be added is for the total volume of H2O (strike+sparge) or is it just for the strike volume. If just for the strike volume then do I need to add the same amount to the sparge water? Ditto for acid additions.

you can choose in the advanced water calculator if you are adding salts to mash only. otherwise I think it accounts for total volume of water.

Do you know why it automatically checks the box for mash only if you check the box for adjusting for a specific pH level?

I have a really basic question. Is the mash defined as total water (strike plus sparge) used or only the strike water?
