Hello there,

The first batches of 2018, will be beers I never brewed or never had the courage to brew differently than the ones I have brewed untl now.

If you know Gonzo from Flying Dog, that is one gorgeous Imperial Porter. Here is my take on it: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/561175/04-imperial-porter

I like ESBs, although I did not for some years, as I was a " hopyy/high IBUs " man: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/561196/02-esb

I like malty ESBs, with nutty flavours and dark fruits. I like then bitter, but not overly so.

And Dark beers... I love them.

Pale ale without dry hopping: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/570442/01-pale-ale-nd

Red: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/561172/03-red

Brown: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/561179/04-brown

Let me know what you think.

Nice, Gonzo is one good beer. I've been looking for a good Ten Fidy clone for a bit, hope to brew that sometime next year
I'd really like to shift into smaller batches so I can brew more frequently and try different ingredients and recipe combos. Really hoping to refine a few recipes over the year

Good luck!

I don't know if you have seen these regarding the Ten Fidy clone, but probably did:

Anyways, I am really excited to try to brew something like Gonzo.

These past months I brewed some hoppy Black IPAs and experimented with different dark malts, such as Chocolate Spelt, Chocolate Rye and Chocolate Wheat from Weyermann and the results were awesome. Roasty, but not overwhelming and lots of other stuff, like mild liqorice, toffee. Very good.

So I am looking forward to more hoppy Imperial Porters and Black IPAs.

Thanks, I know I haven't seen that reddit

I like that ESB recipie if that dont give you malt lust i dont know what will.

That is kinda the point. I like a malty, nutty, dark fruitty ESB with enough bitterness to counter the malt. I think I still need to get 2-3 IBUs more, to get in line with the " style " requirements, although that is not really the point, if the beer turns OK?

I see where your comming from how challanging this style can be. Good record keeping obviously will get you there. A few more passes through the brew house and im sure youll be sweet as a nut ;)

I always keep notes of my brews, so I will make sure to continue with that.

I've added some other recipes, which I am planning on brewing in 2018.
