Firstly, I know it doesn't really matter, and 'beer' would be a good enough answer - but I'm just curious more than anything.

I combined 2 or my favourite recipes and came up with this, but not sure what style to call it? The grain is from the Wheat beer recipe, and the hops and yeast from an APA. White IPA?

Yummy beer?

It's an APA or a relatively low-gravity NEIPA if it's a little cloudy from the wheat and juicy enough from the hops. Flaked wheat alone isn't going to give it much wheat flavor, especially in that small an amount. If you were submitting it for judging an the APA category, you might get some appearance points off as an APA, but probably not enough to make much difference.

I think you missed the 41.7% wheat malt JA;)

Right you are...I glossed over the recipe.

Still, with Chico yeast it'll be more APA/IPA than anything else. Wheat malt can be extremely clean in flavor and unless you intentionally throw in a ferulic rest you won't get much clove-note precursor anyway, even if you were using a yeast that was strong in that flavor. If it's intentionally hazy from the wheat, then it's more like a NEIPA, as I mentioned, and clarity in a Pale or IPA isn't usually a deal breaker.

According to the recipe calculator and using those numbers, it literally checks all the boxes for an APA or IPA, none of the boxes for an American Wheat and is too dark for a White IPA (and, as noted, it wouldn't have the Belgian yeast flavors).
If it were being entered for competition in a category, it would score as a Pale or IPA and would have points deducted in any other category.

Thanks guys! So still an APA, cool.

I'm guessing it will be super pale/bright as that's what the previous wheat beer was (with the same grain bill).

Summer has arrived with a vengeance this week, so after not having to think about temp control I had to quickly make a swamp cooler last night to get it down from 24.5C! So what to call it might not be my biggest problem anymore, hahaha!
