So i have had this machine for 10 years! Just learned that pulling barista quality shots needed this!

Apparently the pressure this machine pulls shots at was 12-14 bar from the factory. Needed to be 9 bar. Who knew? So after 10 years this thing really does an amazing job lol

Sweet! I had a cheaper one but gave up and got a nespresso. Wish I had room to keep it.

I love this thing. my mother in law got it for me for christmas one year. best part is all the parts are serviceable. only had a temp sensor go out once.

Once you have a 'proper' coffee machine you never want to be without one I think. It's a bit of a fluff first thing in the morning but, man, that first aroma and caffeine hit is a real heart starter.

10 years and still going strong is an excellent lifespan for a domestic appliance. The Italians seem to have really found their manufacturing mojo over the years, they make great brewing kit too!

Italian made baccarat stove top is my go too cheap simple and makes a damn good cup of (what do you Americans call it) Joe;);)!
Lol, i don't call it that.

I have one of those too. Prolly have 6+ coffee makers, lol
Have a percolator, Italian stove top, French press, pour over, espresso machine, drip machine (never use it), kuerig, veitnamese coffee.

I've never* called it Joe either, but I admit that anyone asking in a place where coffee (Caw Fee) is served would not ever misunderstand a request for a "cuppa Joe".

*not that I remember anyway...

Dropping it to 9 bar really does make a big difference—way closer to proper espresso extraction, so no surprise you’re seeing better shots now. Funny how something small like pressure can change everything after years of use
Newer systems like also focus a lot on consistency and control like this, which shows how important these details are

I just use an aeropress, as I prefer to minimise power use (I'm on limited solar only) and I only drink one big cup a day anyway
Me too. I like making strong, normal, hazelnut coffee from a cheaper Walmart machine that uses actual coffee instead of the Keurig bullshit.

Keurig style coffee is gross but nothing normal about hazelnut flavored coffee either o_O
But take that if you will from a person who is spoiled on single source organic responsibly grown coffee delivered directly to my door by my roaster 1 day post roast
I like doing pour over
it reminds me of mash and sparge
soak the grounds with 180deg water then sparge with the remainder of the water
everything is measured with a scale and the ratio can be adjusted for the beans and roast level

of course I can make a descant cup with other coffee makers
but its more about the beans and the ratio than the coffee maker pot

by the way Im retired so I can afford the time for such luxuries
take my time sit on the porch and have a cup of 2 until 11
when I was working I lived on 7/11 coffee about 6 cups a day

we use a ninja drip coffee with a double walled carafe...gf wakes at 5a for work so we need the preset times. atleast with the ss insulated carafe it isnt burnt by the time i get to it around 7. I do have a fancy burr grinder.

I just gave myself a new manual burr grinder.
Big improvement over the previous one I had. That one has become a spice grinder :)

I was in Holland during covid and in quarantaine. That's when I got the aeropress and a coupe different types of coffee. It was a fun experiment

yes the burr grinder is key
whole beans only
I didn't think I needed to mention this
only grind enough for the day

i mean generally we drink members mark breakfast blend during the week. On the weekends we drink whole bean fancy coffee. during the week we are just looking for caffiene.

We use the Fair life white bottle protien drinks instead of creamer! they are 30g(roughly 7g of protien from our "creamer") of protein. so we split one roughly every other day. they are lactose free and very low sugar. the milk actually goes into solution far better then the soy or oat milk or whatever others.

@Zambi i love the aeropress that we have. we use it to travel.

we have a percolator for camping and it is sufficient.

Ah, coffee - my other vice.
We have a Jura machine that grinds the Dunkin’ whole beans and turns it into coffee - the Wife’s fave. I use Aldi German ground (half dark, half medium, mixed - $7 a half-kilo) for my mornings, but would take Jakobs Kronung any day, if it wasn’t almost twice the price. If U’m lazy or morning-befuddled, the one-button Dunkin is perfectly fine too,
