So I am looking to use up as much of my remaining grain as i can. I will be putting it on a draft line that has 3 kegs in front of it so it will be a while before it gets on draft. For that reason i was thinking that it should be a lager since i will have an appropriate amount of time to lager it.

I have a wide variety of grain on hand including 2 bags of red X. I have about 165#s of 2 row to use up so it can be strong(preferably below 7% though)

I have on draft:
Double Juicy IPA brewed with Guava and Lime at 9%abv
Oatmeal Porter @ 5.7%
Session IPA @5.1%
Mango/lime Sour @ 5.2%
Golden Lager @ 5%
Rye Lager @ 5.7% <--This is the line that would be replaced
Juicy IPA @ 6.4% followed by Belgian Tripel brewed with Blackberries and Lemon @8.2%
Red Ale @ 5.4% followed by a Lightly Smoked Vienna Lager @5.6%

I was thinking about using atleast 1 bag of Red X and making a 6.2-6.8% dark red lager?

I was also looking at ESBs or something along that side but fermenting it with munich lager yeast and giving it a nice long lager. This would sort of become a german lager i guess???

Looking for cool interesting lager recipe ideas!

I would like to brew this on Friday if possible!

West coast IPA stout, with cinnamon!
That blows my mind...but unfortunately im really having to make a lager due to my draft system being full.

Also looking at this storm so im probably going to be pushing this brew off till next week.

If you have a bunch of 2 Row and want to do a lager, Pre Pro:)
Red IPA/IPL?
pre-prohibition sounds really interesting. I was reading about german style lagers. Was thinking maybe a bock or even a double bock???

Haven't done a Bock. I think lots of the German lagers like to have some Vienna too. I like the idea of a good Pilsner in a German beer over 2 row. But, an American Pre Pro with some corn with 2 row or 6 row :)

How does this look for a pre pro inspired lager?

This is my year around golden lager

This is one i did a little while ago. Big golden ale

I think i might make a different more traditional version of the pre pro because that will leave me with enough grain to brew a big red lager as well.

Smaller Pre Pro beer. Simpler recipe

I might ferment this out with Apex Berlin lager yeast instead of Munich and run it cold maybe 54F??

I actually have compared the same recipe side by side(that golden lager above) and could not tell the difference, in that recipe. I generally buy 2row instead of pilsner. it generally has a higher DP and a little more sugar.

I think a big (8%ish) hoppy red lager.
Tons of American C hops in the boil and whirlpool only.

Ya I think I have enough grain for both a kolsch/golden lager of some variety and a big red beer.

I have 110# of redX that I need to use as well as I would have about 65#s of 2row left after the other brew. Throw some dark crystal/spec x and some roasted in there.

Probably shoot for 7% since anything over 7.5% I serve in a smaller glass.

I like the idea of a pale red imperial lager. Easy! Probably 35-45 ibus just a little columbus to bitter and then I have some Chinook/citra/cascade?

I might drop the wheat in the Pre Pro. Just 2 row/6row and Carapils with the flaked corn. I used low alpha Crystal Hops in mine. My understanding of Crystal is it is bred as a combination of Cascade and Hallertau. You may want a few more IBUs in a Pre Pro too. Those are simple and beautiful beers. 5.3% would work out well for one of those. I used 34/70. I don't know how that compares to your yeast.

how does this look? I removed most of the wheat and added more corn and a few more lbs of 2row. I couldnt remove it all and still have enough sugar for the target abv(to diff it from my normal Golden Lager). Shouldnt be noticeable in the final beer with that much corn sweetness.

Storm was rough on savannah how did yall fare?

I would like to hear how that one comes out. I'm not familiar with some of the hops, but it sounds good.
We got off easy. The beach communities west of Tampa did NOT. I planned to stay over there next month, and that might change depending on the damage to the hotel. There is a touristy shopping village in Madeira Beach, and they were under 6 feet of water during the storm Gulf Blvd over there looks like a dirt race track, and the flooding damage is substantial without even having a direct hit.

Man I have friends up in Asheville that we havent heard from. Not Great. So much damage.

Loral is a really nice hop and one of the noble-ish hops that i can get in Cryo. Mandarina Bavaria is an orangish flavor hop, subtle IMO.

Talking to some of the breweries in my area and we might do some beers to donate proceeds to help up there.

What do you think about this for the hoppy red. Finishes off my Red X as well as my 2R.

40 IBUs is fairly hoppy for this style, but i dont think that it would be overpowering bitterness wise.
19SRM should be pretty nice for a deep red color without being just an amber??

I will probably use the remaining berlin lager yeast i have. It produces a little more fruitiness then i prefer for my normal clean lagers.

It is based on this which is still on(last keg). bigger, darker, hoppier lol.

Looks good, but for me personally, I'd up the ibu to balance out the malt sweetness you'll have.
I'd say about 55 ibus would be just about right.
And don't be afraid to load up the end of boil and post boil hop additions.i might double what you have post boil.
Send out the final rendition and results when you brew it!
Cheers

adjusted things around a bit. its a little more like an old school hoppy red now. I could add another oz of columbus to 60 mins to gain bitterness.

I will clean the tank/mill grain tomorrow for this batch. Brew it on Wednesday!

unfortunately the kolsch/prepro lager got bumpd in favor of a sour since i will need that and it actually uses more grain which is good. Probably a blueberry sour just to keep it simple!
