But, as we could tell from some posts during the pandemic lockdown, taste wasn't the primary reason they brewed.Homebrew during prohibition had a well deserved reputation for being awful. Homebrew during prohibition was fermented with bread yeast.

And now one more question , I have a batch of coconut porter in the fermenter
Its been eight days. Original SG was 10.48 and now is 10.30.
That seems to me that the yeast is not working well!
I just transferred to second fermenter garage temp is around 60degrees.

I used a refractometer and I'm using a packet of S-04 yeast with a starter about 2pints of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar.How did you measure your SG?
