Should you be able to see the recipes of a friend if you are both following each other and hit the check box to "share with followed brewers"? Or do have to actually send the URL and they have to keep it?

You should be able to see their recipes under their name. Is that not the case?

they still have to share recipes, and brew logs, it just gathers a list of people under your friends tab and gives you a link to their profile, you see what anyone else see's if they clicked on their profile, sometimes its hard to find people, so many are here a total over 17,000 so its just an organizational tool mostly

So that first checkbox doesn't really do anything?

Yeah did't seem to actually do anything. And it references the "URL below". It must be a secure invisible URL?

:)

Upon testing it, you do have to give the follower the URL, but if you have it remain "private", even giving them the URL won't allow them to see it. If you click the first box, and then send them the URL, they can see it.

Well and the URL's started showing up now. I might have been clicking the wrong order or something.

It would be pretty handy if you 3 categories of recipe privacy. Public, Friends & Private.

Either way, nice site, reasonable price and useful.

just to be clear was it a private recipe or shared with the public or just friends

We both set some to "Friends". Made the assumption if you clicked on the person you were following AKA Friend you could see them under thier profile when you clicked on their recipes. Ya can't. All you can see are the full public ones.
