Hiding Brew Steps? (bottom overlay)

Is there any way to hide the brew steps? I use an old mini laptop for brewing and the brew steps take up an inordinate amount of space at the bottom of the page. From memory the brew steps didnt use to be visible all the time when a Brew Session was open.
