Damn that looks good!
Really happy with it! Plenty of body, it doesn't drink like 3.4%Damn that looks good!
I can never get that nice white head on a dark beer.
What's your impressions?
I was thinking this would be nice on cask giving it a creamier mouthfeel.
Oh that sure does sound like a winner and one that might make it into your regular yearly rotation maybe.Really happy with it! Plenty of body, it doesn't drink like 3.4%
The roast has underlying coco and coffee notes, but nothing harsh or bitter
It finishes with a light brown sugar flavor.
A total crusher!
Thanks for the inspiration Ben!
I like the use of melanoidin malt that's unique but should provide some unfermentables for sure and body for this lite beer.this is what I have here, I'm only worried about the crystal 150, seams to be too much harshness will come from that
Pale Ale
Caramel / Crystal 150L
Melanoidin
De-Bittered Black
Flaked Wheat
Roasted Barley
changed it a little

Looks like a goer Alan I will use Marris Otter next run on this beer.I'm going to have a go at this one Ben so I tweaked it for what I have in the garage.
FERMENTABLES:
2300 g - Maris Otter (72.1%)
300 g - Crystal Extra Dark (9.4%)
300 g - Wheat Malt (9.4%)
120 g - Roasted Barley (3.8%)
120 g - Vienna Malt (3.8%)
50 g - Black Malt (1.6%)
Plus some rice hulls to offset the wheat sticking the sparge.
HOPS:
15 g - East Kent Goldings, Type: Pellet, AA: 6, Use: First Wort, IBU: 13.94
10 g - East Kent Goldings, Type: Pellet, AA: 6, Use: Boil for 15 min, IBU: 7
10 g - East Kent Goldings, Type: Pellet, AA: 6, Use: Boil for 0 min, IBU: 5.12
Should be good one. I think I will put in a keg and some clear bottles. Now to work on a label.
You won't be disappointed@The Brew Mentor , that looks really nice! When I do get back to brewing this will be near the top of my list! As I have reduced my alcohol intake, and have been embracing lower ABV beers, this one would be right in my range!
what recipe did you use?View attachment 19925View attachment 19926The cask is all ready to tap and the teaser is off the draft system. A little early sampling to make sure it's spot on!
Delicious!
It's posted earlier in this threadwhat recipe did you use?
I've given up on the BF calculator correctly predicting the SRM of my beers. It always underestimatesreason I asked is the recipe srm is not the same color as your beer, I thought maybe you changed it
