Is the volume and grazvity of the yeast starter (i.e. 2 liters at 1.036) the pre-boil volume and gravity of the starter, or the post-boil (after 10-15 min) volume and gravity of the starter?

I'd think it's the post boil gravity but I boil mine in an Erlenmeyer flask, covered, so I have no boil losses. Extra goodness: The steam sanitizes the flask. If you're boiling it open in a pan on the stove, I'd guess there'd be some boil-off but I'm too lazy to measure it.
