why wont my sorting preference save on the recipes page?

Is there a way to save my sorting preferences so I don't have to change it to updated new-old everytime?

it goes by the last setting viewed, also a search phrase will stay in there until cleared also

that doesn't work for me as I never change it to the default.. I always change it to last updated new to old
