I input my figures into a couple of online efficiency calculators, so... I got 22l at 1.034 (the runnings were then around 1.010, so I stopped sparging) from 3.05Kgs of grain. According to the calculators, thats 59% efficiency - same as I had doing a batch sparge. But the confusing this is that in the recipe http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/r ... ekg-bitter I had to change my efficiency to 77% to get the same OG as I actually had going into the FV? I had 22L into the boiler, but got out 18L after losses and evaporation, so in Batch Size I put in 18 and Boil Size I put in 22, to get to the OG that went into the fermenter (1.041) I had to increase the efficiency to 77%. Where have I went wrong?
