What are you doing with homebrew today?

My son is brewing a strange one...

"There's going to be hibiscus limes and agave involved "
Calling it "Cerveza de Jamaica"
It is about done in the fermenter, he says about 7.6% , the pic he sent looks quite orangish in color.

Pulled a sample from the competition Cream Ale I'm brewing, waiting for it to off-gas to get a gravity reading, it tastes delicious from the fermenter.
Swapped dip-tubes on a keg for a floating dip tube. I'll use that as a bright tank for the cream ale.

Second reading in a week at 1.011. It’s to style and done. Moving to bright tank with floating dip tube and starting cold crash tomorrow.

I kicked off a 1L yeast starter for a Smithwicks I plan to brew on Friday. I'm trying to stick with Imperial A10 Darkness while I do minor tweaks to the recipe. I really like the A10 for how it brings out more of the caramel/toffee flavor than the other Irish Ale yeasts. Anyway, my LBHS only had a 5 month old pack of A10. He gave it to me for free and now I am seeing if the yeast is viable. If it is then I'll step it up to a 2L before I brew. Or maybe I'll up it to a 3L so I can harvest some for later use.

Have you used the floating dip tubes before? I've had trouble with mine staying below the surface and not sucking gas

I added a weight to the hose above the filter. It did well when I sanitized and purged the keg of sanitizer.

Ah the weight makes sense. What did you use? I think I have some stainless washers

I bumped up the pressure on my keg of Vienna Lager, in an effort to get some carbonic bite. Also checked my IPA in primary since Saturday 4/26 - there is still some pressure in the airlock, so things are still working. In consultation with my wife, I am trying to narrow my choice for my next brew, and she is pointing me toward an amber ale.

Bumped up coffee porter to 22C Monday, will cold crash it starting tomorrow, and leave it around 1C over the weekend

Thank God for my keg
I am not sure why I liked @Tim Bulin post, except for the dedication in cleaning 90 bottles. I don’t miss that part of the process, but might still bottle on occasion.

On another note, today I went to lhbs and picked up grains, hops and yeast to make an Amber Ale. Outside the shop, they had several racks of “garage sale” items, gently used returns from shop customers. Using a $50 credit, I was able to bring home these 2 beauties for $50 out of pocket - homebrew score!

Nice! I respect the work effort too, but after this last year, I need simplicity as well as some sort of normality badly.

Truth of the matter is I give away a lot more beer than I drink and bottles are a lot lighter than my keezer.
