I've come across a heck of a deal on some Colombus Cryo hops and am wondering if there is any reason not to use them for bittering. I know they are prized for eliminating vegetal material for later additions but why not on early additions?

I don't see why not. Alpha acid is alpha acid.

You could but why? I mean the main purpose is all the aroma and flavor you get from the cryo. Seems a waste to me when there are plenty of hops out there to use for bittering on the cheap.

I think I bought the same deal ... $1 an ounce was it?

Denny Conn wrote an article about Cryo hops and said that for a bittering charge his experience was that 1/2 Cryo was equal to 1 full traditional. So if you typically used an ounce at 60, try 1/2 ounce to match that.

Here's the article ... https://www.yakimachief.com/homebrewing-with-cryo-hops/
