Fairly new to this game so there might be a great explanation. If there is then I'm keen to learn.

When adding lactose to my recipes I note that the gravity projections do not change. I can understand that the pre-boil doesn't move but why does this addition not reflect in the OG and FG calculations?

Is is possible to elect to have the unfermentables show their effect on the OG and FG, maybe as a tick box?

Only thing I could think of would be that it doesn't ferment. So since it effects OG and FG equally. Maybe they don't calculate it?

Maybe. It has thrown me out before and now I have to manually adjust the OG and FG so I don't panic ;)

Lactose does affect OG and FG, and should be calculated by the software, may I suggest that you post a link to your recipe so that p e of the admins can have a look at it and see what is going on?

Please provide a link so we can investigate, this should be accounted for.

My Lactose is listed under "Other Ingredients" as it is added during the boil. This might have removed it from the fermentable/non-fermentable calculation. Am I wrong to list it there or is that an ommission from the calcuator?

Many thanks for your prompt response.

It needs to go into the recipe builder under grains/sugars. It's not really "other" like sulfite, orange peels, etc.
