I realize this may be pandora's box, but i'd love to see more support for distillers. This would include distiller's yeasts, spirit styles (Whiskey, Gin, etc) , and steps specific to distilling (stripping runs, spirit runs, etc). I have been using it for my past few batches with some modifications, but the log entries get a big jumbled when we are past fermentation.

We've had this on our list for a while, along with wine/mead/cider too.

It's harder to integrate than it seems, as the whole 'brew session" feature where the logs are kept is geared specifically to brewing. I do use it sometimes for my wine and cider, but we all agree it's not at all optimal.

I just started making mead! If you are looking for a dev to help with this adding in a tool for mead/cider makers I would gladly volunteer my time!

I have a distiller set up now, haven't used it yet
I've just started tinkering with some converted brewing equipment. Turns out that if you mess with brewing long enough, you have all the fittings and cookers and coils and vessels needed for that sort of thing.

Maybe a separate forum for the discussion of distillation equipment and methodology? There are plenty of places where DIY distillation is relatively commonplace but those of us in the US would be discussing in hypothetical and theoretical terms, of course. ;)

I distilled some water and I will never do it again, too expensive to cool with house water

I've been tinkering around the edges and can attest that re-purposed fermenters and a few fittings will do a fine job of distilling.

We always add forums if needed. This is the first request for distillation, but if there is interested we definitely could add it.

It would be interesting to see what level of interest or activity there is. Some states actually allow home distillation. A few countries allow it. Texas has legislation going through an appeals process that would allow some DIY distilling under the auspices of the Hobby Distillers Association.

Mine does not unfortunately and some people have tried to set me up multiple times, I never fall for it

I've done some distilling in the past.
Not really going to anymore, I think, as I am actually not too fond of spirits.
I like wine & beer better

Me too. It was fun, but not really all that enjoyable to drink in the end for me. I can make really good beer and wine, but the idea of making good tequila or good whiskey just doesn't appeal to me, and making mediocre spirits is even less appealing.

We had a brew day once where we did this with a bunch of friends, and while the product did produce alcohol, it was just not something I want to do.

I've been tinkering and it turns out that the system I put together out of brewing equipment and fittings runs really well. Even with just a few small runs, I've produced some quite pleasant stuff. Nothing is really good without proper aging ( I'm not much of a fan of gin and vodka) so I want to work out some accelerated and long-term aging strategies. The process is completely fascinating to me and I have enough equipment to make pretty good size batches easily.
