I'm not even sure what to call this but I need something to float inside the tube that use to indicate water levels on my HLT. I figure some one on the board has seen something like this as a replacement part or has a good diy idea that I haven't thought of. I'm thinking something foodgrade safe, 1/4 " diameter and it floats.

Anyone...Bueller.....Bueller??

I would think a food-grade plastic ball that fits easily inside the tube will work. Better if it is a bright color! Do put a stainless mesh on both the top and bottom of the tube to prevent the ball making an escape!

Polypropylene, polyethylene and ptfe (Teflon) are all food-safe. I think polypro floats, otherwise the sphere would need to be hollow. McMaster-Carr sells stuff like that.

I'll have to check out some of those poly p things...that suits my cheap bastard lifestyle! Why didn't I think of that?

Ithought this would work until I remembered the1/4" part.

Maybe one of the little plastic BBs from an Air Soft gun?
