Propagating yeast

I have some yeast that has sat for some time in the fridge and don't want to lose it so I have added it to 2L of DME and its on my stir plate, it will go back into the fridge again when done. How long should I leave it on the stir plate?

How long until you plan to use that strain again ?

It will go back into the fridge. Just playing with yeast right now, want to have knowledge of how yeast works and how to build it up.
