oil in HLt

I just put a spigot into a aluminum pot that I had, dummy here used some oil from the garage to lubricate the pot while I drilled the hole. Now it smells like oil. I boiled water in it to see if the smell would go away but I don't think I worked as well as I had hoped.
was wondering if boiling some hops in it would fix this.
What would you suggest?

dawn dish soap, Barkeeper's Friend or OxiClean, use a soft brush if possible, then boil water, should be fine

Lots of soap and water. Barkeeper's Friend is your friend, keep some on hand....
