I did that on my first BIAB and got okay efficiency. On this one I also poured water over the grain bag three times and got way better efficiency.

Interesting approach. I start the mash with the full volume needed to hit my batch size target, squeeze the grain bag for maximum extraction, and in the end achieve efficiency of 80%+. As has been said, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
