This is a great forum for newbies like myself to learn this great hobby (obsession).

A current thread quickly told me that I was conditioning my beer at too low of a temp

So, that being said, what advice would the veterans give to us padawans?

(assume SANITIZE is the default answer)

Consistent process (including sanitation). Control what you can and don't worry about the rest. And never, ever take advice from a bunch of self-selected yahoos in a brewing forum (present company included)! ;-)

I hope the advice we give you is helpful and taken with the appropriate sized grain of salt.
