Hops in the Mash

I haven't brewed in a while. Talking to a brewer recently he said he adds hops in the mash. Have any of you done this? What's the advantage?
 
never have, I would imagine it would give aroma just like dry hopping. only thing is that you would kill alot of it durring the boil. :confused:
 
Yup I've herd recently of brewers adding hops like Sazz in the Mash. Something to do with introducing thiols in the wort that t certain yeast strains and Thiol releasing Enzymes then release these into the beer.
