Does anybody use Red Armor or one of the other stabilizers in their 2 stroke or 4 stroke engines? I watched an interesting you tube the other day that's got me wondering if not doing so is the problem with some of my tools being harder to start than others and there's some water in the gas.

It prevents varnishes from forming in your carburetor and clogging things up. The other option is to drain the fuel in the fall, but fuel stabilizers are quick and easy, just make sure you add some fuel when you add the stabilizer and run the engine long enough that stabilized fuel will be throughout the system

I also use it now. My Model A sat a couple years during covid. When I started driving it again the old gas destroyed the motor. All the valves stuck in place when the motor cooled after a drive, couldnt hammer them out! I knew it was the gas as when I replaced the heads, dug the rings out of rhe pistons (glued in like i used JBweld or something) I also drained the old smelling gas out of the tank. I ran the gas in my lawn mower and destroyed that motor too. (302 Ford motor)

Damn, painful

I'm torn on whether to bother or not. I don't think it hurts it but I have no real confidence it helps. I use Stabil when doing it.

My exact thoughts until I destroyed my Model A and lawn mower...

Never even heard of it.
But then I don't have much of a winter compared to most of you
