We went from a nice day to evacuating schools and friends homes going up in flames. Fire is crazy, and it proved that here in south Georgia. After the initial shock and scrambling to get friends situated and safe, the pace changed to letting them get over the shock while waiting to get back in to see what was left. We scrambled down to the hunt camp and threw whatever we could into the back of the truck, pulled the game cams and feeders, and took one last look. At this time, the wind direction has changed and, for a moment, we are not in the fire's path. Okay rain, time to do your thing.

Mother nature is a bitch

I'm hoping we get enough rain today to take away some of the threat. It has been close to 90, and it hasn't rained in three weeks. I feel for you, brother. I remember a few times it getting pretty bad here about this time of year. Hang in there.

Ouch!
Hope you stay safe

it rained hard all weekend in Savannah, did yall get rain down south?

@Daniel Parshley
Some rain but more of a steady drizzle. Fires are now 75% contained. The hunt camp is not threatened at this time. Smokey still, depending on the wind direction. Friends are just getting back and picking up what remains. A friend lost everything except a trailer, tractor, and the saw mill. Other than having to put in electricity and pluming to the well, he has a place to stay dry and cool. We forgive the fire crews for cutting up stuff underground while plowing fire breaks around structures. These flames were a full 100 feet above the trees and marched forward like that. This fire was not one you fought up close and personal.
